Hobbywood is a place for characters who enjoy spending a lot of time on their own, doing stuff they love... Occasionally, they get together to share their experiences and teach each other new skills. You guessed it! It’s a thinly veiled analogy for creative life which I’ve come to enjoy a lot, especially after I started freelancing in 2019. If you have a brand you feel could benefit from an injection of creative juice in the shape of these little creatures, get in touch!
Hobbywood started as a fully functional original illustrated lamp design for the ”Puusta Puuhun” (From Tree to Tree) group exhibition. The piece is made of PEFC and FSC certified plywood . This means it comes from a forest that’s ”well kept” ie. sustainably grown.
The exhibition was curated by Aiju Salminen and Veera Pekkinen. Puusta Puuhun artists are Maria Björklund, Terhi Ekebom, Jussi Karjalainen, Piia Keto, Janne Korsumäki, Pauliina Mäkelä, Kati Närhi, Tuomo Parikka. Ossi Pirkonen, Kati Rapia, Joonas Rinta-Kanto, Aiju Salminen, and Maria Sann.
