I created illustrations for Forum Virium Helsinki's Smart City (Fiksu Kaupunki) campaign, which focuses on innovative solutions that make life easier for Helsinki residents while supporting the city's transition to carbon neutrality.
The inspiration for the characters came from Malminkartano, the heart of the campaign and a vibrant neighborhood rich in charm and personality. During a research trip to Malminkartano, I encountered a group of industrious squirrels carrying their treasures, as well as a spirited dog named Jeppe who had briefly escaped from her owner—though they were soon joyfully reunited when Jeppe decided to stop and wait for her human.
These experiences deeply connected me to the neighborhood's character, and I wove them into the design as key elements. The illustrations embody the spirit of change toward smarter, more energy-efficient living while staying true to the unique essence of Malminkartano.
